Asheville Announces Food Truck Friday Pilot Program

The City of Asheville announced a pilot program for a weekly food truck event that will take place every Friday, starting on October 3 until Friday, December 19. The event will feature a rotating series of 1-2 local food trucks in Pack Square Park every Friday from 11:00am until 3:00 pm.

The Food Truck Friday program hopes to encourage foot traffic that will support local vendors and align with the discussions of the Planning, Economic Development, and Environment Committee’s exploration of downtown activation strategies. A QR code will be available for locals to provide feedback.

Additional downtown actives will be considered at the City Council Meeting on October 14, including the establishment of an event-based social district program and temporary adjustment to the noise ordinance for additional events. An Event Support Mini-Grant pilot was also recently launched by the City of Asheville and ArtsAVL that funds costs associated with downtown street festivals and other events. This rolling mini-grant program is a new addition to the already established Event Support Grant managed by ArtsAVL.

The program is supported by the Ashville Business Inclusion Office. If you own a food truck and wish to participate, or simply wish to learn more about the ABI office, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the ABI staff. The contact information is found here
