Buncombe County Begins Process of Sending Property Tax Bills

This week Buncombe County began the process of mailing property tax bills to residents, ahead of the January 2026 deadline. Here is the key information homeowners need to know.

2025 property tax bill timeline

  • Jan. 5, 2026: Last day to pay bill without interest. If you mail your payment, the USPS postmark date is when the County considers the payment received. If there is no USPS postmark, the date it arrives at the County office is the payment received date. Mail metered by a third party is not considered postmarked by the USPS.

  • Jan. 6, 2026: Interest starts to accrue on late payments.
