Downtown Improvement District Launches Ambassador Program

The Asheville Downtown Improvement District (ADID) officially launched its Community Ambassador program last week. Supported by the City of Asheville, the program provides a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week presence in the downtown area to better assist residents and visitors.

Here are the targeted services provided by the program:

  • Daily litter and debris removal on sidewalks and streetscapes

  • Supplemental storm drain clearing

  • Graffiti removal and inspection of streetscape fixtures

  • Pressure washing and spot cleaning of public spaces

  • Maintenance and reporting for public spaces

  • Supplemental restroom cleaning and monitoring

  • Basic landscape and planter care

  • On-call rapid response for emergent cleaning and maintenance needs

The services provided by the program complement what the City of Asheville is already doing, and citizens should still report issues through the Asheville App. The ambassadors are trained on when to escalate situations to the appropriate authorities when needed. Asheville’s Downtown Association, in partnership with the Asheville Chamber of Commerce and Nexstreet, oversees and supports the ambassador program.
