North Carolina Families Set For Large Tax Refunds This Tax Season

Ahead of this tax return season, North Carolina families are set for higher tax refunds. The White House says President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cut will raise wages in North Carolina by an inflation-adjusted range of about $3,500 to $6,400 over the next four years. A typical family with two children in North Carolina can expect to see higher take-home pay of about $7,100 to $10,100 with Working Families Tax Cuts compared to if it was not passed.

“Thanks to President Trump signing the largest middle-class tax cuts in history – including no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security – this will be the largest tax refund season ever. President Trump believes that hardworking Americans deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money, and he will always fight to put more money back in their pocket,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

In contrast to Republicans who supported this tax cuts, every single Democrat voted against legislation. In fact former Governor Roy Cooper announced his campaign for Senate in opposition to the Working Families Tax Cut legislation.

“Multimillionaire liberal Roy Cooper spent nearly 40 years enriching himself while jacking up taxes on working families and cheering on the Biden-Harris administration’s reckless spending spree that fueled historic inflation. It’s no surprise Cooper said he would have voted against the largest middle-class tax cut in history.” -- Nick Puglia, NRSC Regional Press Secretary

In contrast to the Republican tax cutting agenda, Cooper consistently found ways to raise taxes on North Carolinians.

  • Cooper expanded the sales tax in North Carolina.

  • The Working Family Tax Cuts provides a $3,264 tax cut on average for North Carolinians thanks to the legislation.

NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer said, “Crooked Roy Cooper opposed the Working Families Tax Cuts, vetoed tax cuts as Governor, and raised taxes on North Carolina families in the General Assembly. When it comes to making life better for Americans, Crooked Roy is the last person we can trust.”

Here are some of the key tax cuts for North Carolinians passed by Republicans. The Working Families Tax Cuts delivers on the President’s promise of No Taxes on Social Security, No Taxes on Tips, and No Taxes on Overtime, allowing Americans to keep more of their hard-earned money.
