North Carolinians Set To Receive Historic Tax Refunds

This week, millions of North Carolinians filed their tax returns and thanks to the One Big Beautiful bill, many will see historic tax refunds. Refunds are up 11% this year and millions of Americans are taking advantage of the historic tax cuts like eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security. One key contrast in the 2026 senate contrast is on taxes. The Republican Senate candidate, Michael Whatley, supported the tax cut legislation, and the Democrat Senate candidate, former Governor Roy Cooper, opposed this legislation.

"Families have more money in their pockets this tax season thanks to President Trump and Senate Republicans passing the Working Families Tax Cuts,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “While Democrat Roy Cooper wants to tax North Carolinians' tips, overtime, and Social Security, Michael Whatley will fight to slash taxes and make life more affordable for families."
