Ahead of Runoff, Governor Brian Kemp Endorses Lt. Governor Burt Jones To Succeed Him

Over the weekend, Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) officially endorsed Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones in the Republican Runoff on June 16th. The runoff is between Trump-endorsed Lt. Gov. Burt Jones and businessman Rick Jackson.  

Gov. Brian Kemp said, "Over the last eight years, we've achieved historic wins for hardworking Georgians from all walks of life and made our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family. We've passed the largest tax cut in state history, announced the largest economic development projects ever, raised teacher pay by nearly ten thousand dollars, led the entire nation in recovering from a pandemic, cracked down on criminal street gangs, invested historic amounts in school safety and classroom excellence, and made Georgia a national leader in job creation from businesses large and small.” (click here to watch the video)  

On hearing this news, Lt. Governor Burt Jones said, "When I receive an endorsement, it's because the person knows me, they know my proven conservative record, they know my work ethic, and they know when I say I'm going to do something, I do it. Which is why I am honored to have the endorsement of Governor Brian Kemp. I've been grateful to work alongside the Governor these past four years, and it is my privilege today to receive his full endorsement. It's time we come together as a party, finish strong on Tuesday, and look to November and keep fighting for all the principles, freedoms, and values that make Georgia the best state in the nation." 

After news of the Kemp endorsement broke, Rick Jackson said, “I have always been the outsider in this race and still am, but mark my words: I'll be President Trump's favorite governor and I'll build on Governor Kemp's legacy here in Georgia. I'm not beholden to anyone. I can't be bought, and I won't be intimidated. I have run against the grain for my entire life and look forward to being a Governor for all 11 million Georgians who don't have a lobbyist and aren't served by the special interests.” 

After the endorsement, the Burt campaign released a new positive ad featuring Burt Jones.
