Asheville Announces New Fire Station For Oakley
The City of Asheville announced that a new fire station is coming to the Oakley community to replace Asheville’s Fire Station 9. The new fire station is the first of two phases for the Oakley Public Safety Complex, a project that will bring our public safety facilities in Oakley to modern day standards. The first phase replaces the fire station, and the second will replace the old fire station with a new East Asheville Police Resource Center.
The 2023 Comprehensive Facility Study identify the Oakley complex as a high priority for upgrade and the project is funded by a 2024 general obligation bond will fund the project to improve local fire and police operations.

When: Monday, November 17, 2025, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Where: Murphy-Oakley Community Center at 749 Fairview Road
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the project team, learn more about the project goals, and provide input on architectural design elements. Parking is available in the lot at the Murphy-Oakley Community Center. Activities for children and light refreshments will be provided.

The design phase for the new fire station is anticipated to last through 2026, with construction to be completed in 2028.
