Asheville Regional Airport Receives Federal Grants To Support Improvements

This week, United States Department of Transportation awarded Asheville Regional Airport a $2.6 million grant in federal funds for improvement projects. This is part of the $1.73 billion across the country. North Carolina will receive $17.7 million, with $9.8 million supporting projects at North Carolina’s ports.

Sen. Ted Budd said, “As tourism in Western North Carolina continues to rebound, ensuring travelers can easily arrive and depart from Asheville Regional Airport is vital for the region’s economy. As a strong supporter of the proposed roadway improvements at the airport, I am grateful that Secretary Duffy and the Department of Transportation have provided considerable funding to get this project moving so the airport can keep up with increasing passenger projections.”

This is part of the Trump administrations effort to strengthen America’s infrastructure.

“America is fortunate to have a Builder in the White House who knows America is only as great as our infrastructure. That’s why this Department is investing in repairing critical roads and bridges that connect Americans to job opportunities, port infrastructure that bolsters our national security, and aviation and transit projects that move American families. The impact of these dollars will be felt in communities nationwide for years to come,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy.
