Blue Ridge Parkway Reopens Twelve-Mile Portion  Between Blowing Rock And Linville Falls

Today, the National Parks Service announced the reopening of a 12-mil section of the historic Blue Ridge Parkway between Linville Falls and Blowing Rock. This is the first of multiple reopenings planned over the next few weeks.

The Parkway identified at least 57 landslides caused by Hurricane Helene across nearly 200 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. Repair work began quickly in the Fall of 2024 in a phased system to provide the public access to the Parkway as quickly as possible.

Parkway construction requires a specialized skill set given the remoteness and challenging terrain. The Parkway requests that people refrain from accessing parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway that remain closed due to unstable terrain.
