Buncombe County Announces Plan For New Mass Notification System

This week, Buncombe County announced plans to transition to a new mass notification system, Rave, to improve the County’s ability to send timely emergency alerts and public safety messages to residents. This move comes after the previous provider experienced a cyber-attack into its system, which the Blue Ridge Times reported on last December.

The County advised that residents may need to update their data to receive BC alerts in the new system. During the transition process, the County warns that some messages may be sent in duplicate as they fully transfer systems and warned that there may be an increase in spam calls.

The County says its reviewing data to remove duplicate entries and ensure residents receive alerts accurately moving forward. The county plans to provide additional information about how to sign up for the Rave system in the near future.
