City of Asheville Announces New Director of Public Works 

The City of Asheville announced that Amy Deyton will immediately start as the next director of Public Works.  

“On behalf of the City, I’m pleased to officially announce Amy Deyton as our new Public Works Director,” said City Manager Debra Campbell. “Amy’s steady leadership during her tenure in an interim director role coupled with her deep understanding of our community’s infrastructure needs have already made a meaningful impact. I look forward to seeing her continue to lead with excellence in this new capacity.” 

Deyton has worked for Asheville for the last decade. She most recently served as the Interim Public Works Director, previously she served as the Assistant Public Works Director, Interim Stormwater Division Manager, Stormwater Capital Program Manager, and Stormwater Project Manager. Deyton has been a licensed professional engineer for 23 years and worked in the Pubic Works field for 28 years.  

“I am truly humbled and honored to continue my service to the Asheville community in this new role,” said Deyton. “Public Works plays a critical part in the daily lives of our residents, and I’m excited to lead such a dedicated team committed to maintaining and improving the City of Asheville.”
