Cooper Recruited Company With Over A Billion In Incentives, Now Democrat Attorney General Is Suing Them To Reclaim Land

Last week, Democrat Attorney General Jeff Jackson filed a lawsuit on behalf of the North Carolina Department of Commence against VinFast, alleging that the company breached its agreements with the state for the development of an electric vehicle and battery manufacturing facility in Chatham County. The lawsuit exercises its contractual right to acquire the property to protect taxpayers and preserve the site for future economic development opportunities.

In 2022, then-Governor Roy Cooper touted the project as “transformative” and promised that it would brings thousands of jobs. VinFast highlighted that the company secured $1.2 billion in incentives from the state of North Carolina through negotiations with the Cooper administration.

"Roy Cooper has only ever delivered on the radical left's priorities, and North Carolinians are still paying the price," said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia

The lawsuit from the state of North Carolina effectively signals that the project is not going to happen and the state wants the land back.

NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer said, “Roy Cooper sacrificed $1.2 Billion in taxpayer money for Joe Biden's Green New Scam with nothing to show for it except a demolished church. We deserve better leadership than what Cooper delivered with his Temu Tesla EV fantasy."
