Gavin Newsom Comes To North Carolina To Campaign For Former Governor Roy Cooper

Over the weekend, California Governor Gavin Newsom stopped in North Carolina to campaign for Democrats, with a particular focus on supporting former Governor Roy Cooper who as the Democrat nominee for the United States Senate. Newsom is expected to mount a Presidential bid in 2028, which explains his stop in South Carolina, the first state in the nomination contest. When asked about Newsom’s visit, Cooper’s campaign declined to comment, but back in 2022, Cooper praised Newsom’s “progressive leadership.”

“Radical Roy Cooper and his best friend Gavin Newsom are rallying today to bring California’s ‘progressive’ agenda to North Carolina. Newsflash for Cooper- North Carolina wants nothing to do with the radical destruction Newsom has unleashed onto his state. Cooper has followed the lead of Newsom time and time again- releasing violent criminals, standing with the woke mob against parents, and supporting the transgender mutilation of our kids. Cooper wants to unleash this radical left wing agenda onto North Carolina and voters are lining up to reject him this November,” said Whatley Spokesman DJ Griffin.

The Chairwoman of the North Carolina Democrat Party Anderson Clayton proudly attended the event. As the leader of the North Carolina Democrats, Anderson plays a key role in advising and supporting the Cooper for Senate campaign.

Similaries between Cooper and Newsom:

  • COVID Lockdown Hypocrites: Newsom made headlines in 2020 for attending a fancy dinner party, while keeping regular Californians locked down. Cooper marched with black lives matters activists without a mask, despite his stay-at-home orders. Additionally, Cooper’s lead public health advisor got caught putting on her mask just for the cameras at the press conference.

  • Dangerous Soft-On-Crime Agenda: Newsom faced accusation that he ignored the voters will in misappropriate funds to tackle violent crime. Cooper infamously released thousands of convicted criminals early, many of them went on to commit further crimes.

  • Bad for Business: Under Newsom businesses fled California. Many of them left for red states with low taxes and reasonable regulations. As Governor, Cooper opposed tax cuts, proposed additional regulations, and pushed for costly renewable energy over affordable options.

“Gavin Newscum and Roy Cooper are tax-hiking radical leftists obsessed with giving violent illegal aliens government benefits and pushing liberal Green New Deal policies that have sent healthcare and energy costs soaring for hardworking Americans,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia

Tim’s Take: There is no meaningful difference between Roy Cooper and Gavin Newsom when it comes to policy. Cooper wants to make North Carolina more like California that’s why Newsom visited to show his support for him.
