Disgraced Former Governor Mark Sanford Drops Congressional Bid After A Couple Of Weeks

‍ Today, Former Governor Mark Sanford dropped his bid for his old Congressional seat. On April 14th, Sanford released his launch video outlining his priorities for the campaign. On April 30th, he released his statement about dropping out of the race to “launch a grassroots movement.”

‍ In 2009, Sanford made national headlines for his extramarital affair. He dropped off the grid, claiming that he was “hiking the Appalachian Trail.”  Sanford became an extreme critic of President Trump, even challenging him in the 2020 Republican primary. He remains a Trump critic to this day.
