FEMA Approves over $69.8 Million In Public Assistance For Western North Carolina 

This week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that approval of over $69.8 million in Public Assistance for Western North Carolina.  

 

“Great news for WNC—I've been working with FEMA to free up funding to reimburse localities for debris removal & today, I am proud to announce that more long-awaited funding for Yancey, Buncombe & Avery Counties, as well as the City of Asheville, $69.8 million total, is on the way,” said Senator Budd. 

 

U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced Federal grants for the State of North Carolina. This funding is as follows: 

  • Avery County will receive over $39 million for debris removal.  

  • The City of Asheville received $7.1 million in emergency support to cover the costs to the city from Helene.  

  • Yancey County will receive over $20 million for debris removal operations.  

  • Buncombe County will receive $1.4 million for debris removal operations.
