Former Congressional Candidate Moe Davis Announces Another Run

Former Congressional candidate Moe Davis announced his intention to challenge Rep. Chuck Edwards in the 2026 midterm elections. Davis ran for Congress in 2020 and lost to political newcomer Madison Cawthorne.

  • In his announcement video, Davis touted his experience as a military prosecutor. But he declined to describe how he switched sides to advocate for terrorists due to a disagreement with his superior. In fact, he volunteered to be a witness for Salim Ahmed Hamdan, the driver for Osama bin Laden, even though he never argued that Hamdan was innocent.

  • In his previous run for Congress, Davis made headlines for making death threats to Republicans and disparaging comments about President Trump.

Tim’s Take: As a former candidate, Davis will likely be able to clear the field of potential primary opponents. However, mountain voters already rejected Davis in favor of Madison Cawthorne. Rep. Chuck Edwards defeated Cawthorn and is a substantially stronger candidate. Davis will certainly get attention through his brash comments, but his history of advocating for terrorists and vile comments will likely repel voters, allowing Edwards a clear path to victory.
