Former Congressman Dan Bishop Under Consideration For U.S. Attorney Position
This week, the Federalist exclusively reported that President Donald Trump is set to appoint Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Deputy Director Dan Bishop to serve as the Middle District of North Carolina.
Bishop was first elected to Congress in 2019 after serving in the North Carolina State Senate and House from the Charlotte area. Bishop aligned himself with the Freedom Caucus in Congress and was the Republican nominee for Attorney General in 2024.
As the news broke, Bishop posted on X, “Thank you, Sean. I’m honored and eager to serve.”
Earlier this year, Bishop was confirmed by the Senate in 53-45 vote to serve in the number two spot at the Office of Budget and Management. Before his public service, Bishop served an experienced litigator.
