Gov. Bill Lee Announces Key Judicial Appointment
Last week, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced the appointment of Lawrence Scott Shults to the Criminal Court for the First Judicial District.
“I am proud to announce the appointment of Scott Shults, and value the significant experience he will bring to the bench,” said Gov. Lee. “I appreciate his willingness to lead and am confident that he will serve Tennesseans with integrity.”
Previously, Shults served as an Assistant District Attorney for the First Judicial District. He earned his bachelor’s degree at East Tennessee State University and his juris doctor at Appalachian School of Law. Shults has been appointed to fill the vacancy created by Judge Stacy Street’s elevation to the Court of Criminal Appeals. Tennessee’s 1st Judicial District serves Carter, Johnson, Unicoi, and Washington counties, and this appointment is effective immediately.
