Jason Simons wins re-election as NCGOP Chair

Last Saturday, on June 7th, delegates at the annual State Convention for the North Carolina Republican Party reelected Jason Simmons to serve as Chairman. Simmons was first elected in 2024 to fill the remainder of Chairman Michael Whatley’s term. The vote was 53% to 47%.

“It is my honor to serve as State Chairman and I’m filled with gratitude to be elected for a second term. I look forward to continuing to work alongside each and every North Carolina Republican. Let’s get back to work!” said Simmons in his victory speech.

During his campaign for Chair, Simmons highlighted Republicans’ increase in voter registration, first victory ever on winning early vote, and the continued efforts to grow the volunteer base needed to win elections. He pledged to keep the party focused on winning elections. In contrast, his opponent, Brook McGowan focused on vetting primary candidates to ensure they were conservative enough.
