Long-time NC Representative Cecil Brockman Arrested On Charges Of Indecent Liberties With Child

Yesterday, long-time Roy Cooper ally and current North Carolina House of Representatives Member, Cecil Brockman, was arrested in Guilford County on four charges, including indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape. Brockman is in his sixth term in the N.C. House and discussed his advocacy on behalf of then Gov. Roy Cooper.

This is not Brockman’s first encounter with the law. A search of North Carolina’s eCourts system shows that Brockman has 14 prior incidents. These include several speeding tickets, possession of marijuana, and driving without a license. Authorities nor Brockman have provided further details

The day after the arrest, North Carolina House Minority Leader Rep. Robert Reives said, “The allegations against Rep. Brockman are serious and, if true, would disqualify him from public office. This is a developing situation and it important to let the legal process unfold.” Governor Josh Stein added, “These charges are extremely serious and deeply troubling. While the legal process has yet to play out, it’s clear he cannot effectively serve his constituents and should resign immediately.”

The function leader of the North Carolina Democratic Party, Senate Candidate, former Governor Roy Cooper, called for Brockman to resign, only after the Blue Ridge Times highlighted his silence on the issue. Per usual, Cooper is out of state raising money from liberal elites, this time with Bill Clinton’s money guy, former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. For context, McAuliffe is the epitome of a Washington insider, who left his wife in a delivery room as she was in labor to attend a Washington Post Party. (Click here to read the story.)

Cooper and Brockman worked together while Cooper was in the Governor’s mansion. Brockman proudly stood with Cooper during the first round of budget fights with the legislature and helped with Cooper’s “Break The Majority” effort. Cooper headlined Brockman’s “Birthday Bash” in 2018.

Tim’s Take: None of the North Carolina Democrats calling for Brockman to resign, have indicated that they are surprised at these charges. The Virginia Attorney General race is currently be rocked by revelation about Democrat Rep. Jay Jones avoiding his court ordered community service, the conservations revealing his desire for political violence, and callousness toward police officers dying in the line of duty. As the election nears, Jones degeneracy is becoming clearer to the public, but for years Jones showed this disposition behind closed doors. As more details become clear, I’ll be watching to see if Democrats say they were surprised or if them indicated that this behavior matched what they observed behind closed doors.
