Women’s Sports Advocate Payton McNabb Officially Endorsed Michael Whatley

This Friday, Payton McNabb officially endorsed Michael Whatley for Senate at a press conference with Whatley and Republican Congressman Mark Harris. McNabb is a former three-sport high school athlete who suffered a serious injury from a male allowed to play on a girls’ team.

During the press conference, Whatley said, “Three years ago, this week, on July 5, 2023, Roy Cooper vetoed a trio of very important bills for our kids and our families. He vetoed the parents' bill of rights because he did not want our parents to have a say in their kids' education. He did not want our parents to understand what was happening in their children's schools. He did not want for there to be checks on the sexual content of the materials that were being put in front of our kids. He also vetoed a bill on transgender mutilation surgeries on our kids.”

Whatley continued, “Our kids are not old enough to get tattoos. They're not old enough to smoke or to drink. Why in the world would we think that they are old enough to have a life-changing permanent sexual reassignment surgery here in North Carolina? And finally, he vetoed a ban on boys and girls sports. Now, any one of these vetoes would be enough to make you think, why in the world do we want to send this guy to the Senate? But the fact is, on one day, he thought it important enough that he wanted to veto all three of these bills and have a ceremony about it. The worst governor in the history of North Carolina. This man is absolutely not fit to be a senator representing North Carolina.”

McNabb said, “It's an honor for me to be here to stand today with Michael Whatley. Michael's not only a good friend, but he's an incredible candidate, and I believe is going to be the next U.S. Senator from North Carolina.”

In response to a question from the Blue Ridge Times, Whatley committed to supporting federal legislative efforts underway to protect women’s sports and uphold Title IX.
