Mission Celebrates Galen College of Nursing Graduates

Last week, Mission Health announced its celebration for the graduating class of HCA Healthcare’s Galen College of Nursing in Asheville, recognizing their achievement and important role they will play in strengthening the healthcare workforce across Western North Carolina.

“We are proud to celebrate these graduates and welcome many of them to Mission Health,” said Ruth Kain, Chief Nursing Officer at Mission Health. “Our partnership with Galen College of Nursing is an important part of building a strong pipeline of skilled, compassionate nurses who are committed to caring for patients in our region.”

Mission Health maintained a partnership with Galen College of Nursing since the campus opened in 2022. Galen College of Nursing’s Asheville campus, located in Biltmore Park, provides students with access to advanced simulation labs and hands-on clinical training designed to prepare them for success. The college focuses exclusively on nursing education, helping students enter the profession.

“Our Spring graduation was an energetic ceremony that included HCA Healthcare presenting 16 cords to graduates that have accepted positions at Mission Hospitals,” said Lorraine Geffon, DNP, RN, Galen Asheville Dean.  “As a campus, we are so proud to see that so many graduates are already employed and on units that they want to work on.  Their excitement at the event is a true testament to their preparation and engagement with HCA Healthcare.  I am so proud of them all.”

Mission Health says this partnership is a key way they are helping boost the healthcare workforce across Western North Carolina.
