Internal Email From Mission Health Reveals That CMS Investigation Is Complete And Hospital Is Now In Substantial Compliance
In an email to the staff at Mission Hospital, President of Mission Health Greg Lowe shared the findings of the recent CMS survey related to the most recent jeopardy finding.
The message states, “We received CMS’s survey findings related to our Enhanced Plan of Correction. CMS found Mission Hospital operates in substantial compliance with CMS requirements for hospitals and, as a result, CMS requires no additional survey related to the January 2026 survey.”
Lowe goes on to praise the hospital staff for their work in adapting to the changes to improve patient care. Additionally, Lowe said, “While not required by CMS, we will continue to be supported by Bryant Healthcare Consultants through the end of the year. Additionally, we will continue our collaboration with CMS, as we could on our commitment for continuous improvements.”
With this announcement, Mission is no longer in immediate jeopardy status, which stands in contrast to the situation in Raleigh with the Holly Hill hospital. In 2025, the investigators found that despite the “immediate jeopardy findings,” the safety situation deteriorated. Notably, the federal Medicare and Medicaid programs continue to cooperate with this facility despite a decade of concerns.
The response from federal regulators further undermines the litigation continued by Attorney General Jeff Jackson, who is likely running for higher office in the future. A key component of the case is claims over participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, something CMS continues to affirm.

Last night, we received CMS’s survey findings related to our Enhanced Plan of Correction (EPOC). CMS found Mission Hospital operates in substantial compliance with CMS requirements for hospitals and, as a result, CMS requires no additional surveys related to the January 2026 survey.
This is an important milestone for Mission. It is the result of your work over the past several months to strengthen the care we provide to our patients every day.
Together, we have worked with focus, urgency and professionalism to strengthen our care environment, staffing, training, communication and accountability. We are grateful for the commitment of our caregivers and physicians, as well as our HCA Healthcare colleagues, who conducted the EPOC work while continuing to care for our patients and community.
The changes are improving the patient care and experience while helping our teams work more effectively. While we should take pride in reaching this milestone, our work is not finished. Our responsibility is to sustain this progress and continue raising the standard for the care we deliver. We will continue the efforts that brought us here including the daily operational reviews, enhanced staff training, additional leadership and Environment of Care rounding, more responsive feedback mechanisms such as our 24/7 Patient Care Line and our Excellence ALWAYS commitments.
