Republican Bobby Hanig Calls Out Congressman Don Davis For Remaining Silent on ‘Iryna’s Law’
This week, Republican State Senator and Congressional Candidate Bobby Hanig is calling out Democrat Don Davis for his silence on common-sense solutions to violent crime, like the murder of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte.
This week, in response to the increase in violent crime exemplified by the murder of Iryna Zarutsak, the Republican-led General Assembly passed ‘Iryna’s Law’ to crack down of dangerous cashless bail policies. In the North Carolina Senate, Hanig voted for this legislation that end cashless bail, restarts the death penalty, and increases the mental health options available. Rocky Mount Mayor Sandy Roberson, who is also running in the Republican primary against Hanig, posted about his support for Iryna’s law.
While Hanig took a strong stance on the issue by voting for the law, Congressman Don Davis remained silent on the controversy and ongoing policy solutions.
Hanig said, “North Carolinians are tired of politicians who dodge tough issues. Don Davis’s silence shows he won’t stand up when it counts. I’ve proven I will take tough votes, fight for victims, and deliver safer communities. That’s the record I’ll bring to Washington.”
