New Members of the Buncombe County Board of Elections Sworn In
Today, the new members of the Buncombe County Board of Elections were officially sworn in. The new members were appointed after the N.C. Court of Appeals cleared the way for the new legislation to take effect, empowering a new Republican board of elections. County Board of Elections administer elections on the county level, often approving early voting plans and other administrative duties.

The first Board of Elections meeting for the new members will be Aug. 5 at 3:30 p.m. in the boardroom at 59 Woodfin Place.
Here are the new members of the Buncombe County Board of Elections:
Chair: Dr. Glenda Weinert. She has previously volunteers with the election service to learn the process and wants to work to benefit the commit. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys camping, skiing, and traveling.
Member Courtney Blossman. She has extensive experience on boards through her 50-year career in the nonprofit space and promises to bring a “get the work done” ethic.
Member Anne Braine. She has previously served as an election worker and precinct judge. Braine is a long-term observer of elections and brings her experience from a career in computer science.
Member Jake Quinn. This is his fifth term on the board and previously served as the chair. He touts his work with the Democrat Party on the local, state, and national level. In his free time, he serves as a baseball umpire.
Member Salley Stein. This is her second term on the board. She wants to promote safe, fair, and transparent elections. She brings a professional background in healthcare management and service as a local election worker.
