North Carolina Private Road and Bridge Program Taking Applications Until August 31

Buncombe County sent out a news alert that the North Carolina Private Road and Bridge Program (NC-PRB) can assist property owners across Western North Carolina recovering from Helene.

The program:

  • Prioritizes repairs to private roads/bridges that are the sole access for emergency services to residential properties occupied by the property owner for over six months of the calendar year.

  • Prioritizes repairs to roads/bridges providing access to multiple residential homes, recreation or commercial facilities.

How to Get Started

If you have a private road, culvert, pipe, or bridge that was damaged or destroyed following Tropical Storm Helene and you are located in Buncombe County, please visit the NC-PRB website to fill out the intake form before August 31.

You can apply for this program, even if you have applied for FEMA individual assistance.

Starting in September, the program will begin accepting requests for reimbursements of up to 50% for completed home repair projects. Stay tuned for more information.
