Reminder: Jamie Ager’s Biggest Backers Are Washington DC Democrats
Right on cue, legacy media outlets are generating buzz about Jamie Ager and his longshot bid to unseat Republican Congressman Chuck Edwards. Nonpartisan analysts note that the district leans toward Republicans by five points, and Edwards secured his reelection in 2024 56% to 43%.
Given the dynamics of a midterm elections, National Democrats are working overtime to field candidates in districts that are not typically considered battlegrounds. Enter Jamie Ager, who is running as “farmer,” while declining to share his partisan affiliation on his “about” page or his “platform” page.
Ager is omitting his deep ties to Washington Democrats, because he knows it’s a liability. But the reality is that Ager is a longtime Democrat, from a local political family, who was coronated by Washington Democrats.
Ager’s biggest donors are out-of-state liberals focused on electing Democrats and opposing President Trump. Of note, James and Kathryn Murdoch are among Ager’s largest donors. In 2020, they each donated $615,000 to the Biden campaign, and in 2024 James was one of the corporate leaders who endorsed Kamala Harris.
In addition to the financial support, the Democrat Party establishment interfered in the primary to give Ager an advantage. In August of 2025, four of his opponents signed a letter protesting the decision to only invite Ager to speak at the NC-11 Democrat Gala, in which they expressed their "collective and unequivocal disgust” with the decision. His opponents were also vocally critical of the DCCC’s coronation of Ager, with one of his opponents saying, “before a single ballot was recorded, Washington insiders told western North Carolina to sit down and shut up.”
Bottom Line: Ager does not want voters across Western North Carolina to know the truth: national Democrats are backing Ager to undermine President Trump and support their liberal agenda.
