Scandal-Plagued Senator Ralph Warnock Campaigns For Cooper Amid Fallout From Disaster Recovery Audit

Last Friday, in one of his first campaign stops since the brutal audit that highlighted Cooper’s contemptuous response to Hurricane Matthew and Florence, former Governor Cooper brought in scandal plagued, Sen. Ralph Warnock as a campaign surrogate. Highlighting Cooper’s firm alignment with national Democrats.

NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer said, “Radical Roy Cooper campaigning with Raphael Warnock shows his values lie with Washington’s dangerous Democrats. While North Carolina families continue to suffer from his failures to effectively rebuild following devastating hurricanes, Cooper’s agenda for them is higher crime, open borders, and reckless spending of the Biden years.”

Flashback: Here are some of the most shocking findings from the audit

  • Applicants had to go through eight steps to complete the application process. Each step took an average of at least 100 days. Grant determination took an average of 936 days.

In his effort to change the page from this devastating scandal, Cooper’s team brought in a high-profile campaign surrogate: Senator Ralph Warnock (D- GA). However, Warnock has his own political baggage.

"Roy Cooper and Raphael Warnock stood by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' failed policies that hurt hardworking North Carolinians with unsafe communities and skyrocketing prices. Like Warnock, Cooper fights for the radical left and himself — not the families he's supposed to serve," said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.

Here are some of the most shocking scandals directly connected to Warnock.

  • Sent $75,000 of COVID money to a social justice organization he founded.

  • Tried to evict a Marine veteran even after he paid past-due rent.

  • Lives free in a $1 million luxury home purchased by his church.

  • Voted to deny military and federal workers pay in order to give illegal aliens free healthcare.

  • In 2020, police body camera footage showed his ex-wife calling him a “great actor,” and in 2022, she filed a court motion to compel more child support.
