Sen. Budd Highlights Over $233 Million in Helene Aid Funding For Western North Carolina Communities 

This week, Senator Ted Budd highlighted the recent Department of Homeland Security approval of over $233 million to support recovery efforts across North Carolina.  

 

“Communities across Western North Carolina have fronted millions of dollars to clear and repair damage caused by Hurricane Helene. I’ve continued to engage with the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA to expedite the release of federal aid for recovery and repairs that had been stalled, and I am proud to announce that another $233 million is on the way. I am grateful to President Trump for his consistent support for Western North Carolina and to his administration for helping get these funds out the door,” said Senator Budd. 

 

Here are the projects approved in the most recent round of recovery funding: 

  • Blue Ridge Electric Membership. $8.8 million. The funding reimburses the serves used to rebuild the electric grid.  

  • Town of Lake Lure. $1.7 million. The funding helps replace the Lake Lura Marina floating docks and other facilities, along with improvements to survive future storms. 

  • North Carolina Department of Transportation. $22.8 million. This funding covered several projects as they work to rebuild the roads across the region.  

  • North Carolina Emergency Management $200 million. This funding reimburses the state for a variety programs responding to the immediate aftermath of Helene.
