Sen. Jon Ossoff Announces Strong Support For Former Biden Advisor Keisha Lance Bottoms

Last week, after the primary election, Democrat Sen. Jon Ossoff announced his strong support for former Atlanta Mayor and Biden advisor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, who secured the Democrat nomination for Governor. Bottoms tenure as mayor and her time in the Biden administration may prove to be political liabilities.

"Jon Ossoff and Keisha Lance Bottoms are Kamala Harris liberals who opposed the largest middle-class tax cut in history, want to protect criminal illegals like Laken Riley's killer, and support defunding law enforcement. The Ossoff-Lance Bottoms' agenda is too extreme for Georgia," said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.

Here are some key aspects of Bottoms record:

  • Bottoms defunded the police through “reallocation of resources.” This demoralized the police and homicides increased by 58%. Political insiders speculate that the crime surge may have been a key reason she decided to not run for reelection.

  • She ended cooperation with federal immigration authorities and removed all detainees from the city jail.

  • Bottoms “reimaged” law enforcement by ending cash bail bonds and obstructing federal law enforcement from enforcing immigration law.

  • She was a senior advisor for the Biden administration and worked in a senior role in Kamala Harris’s failed presidential campaign. Bottoms played a key role in the failures of the Biden administration.

Tim’s Take: Bottoms simply explained her radical agenda, which Ossoff tries to avoid discussing. Her radical record is out of step with average voters, and she may well prove to be a liability for Ossoff’s re-election campaign. As election day nears, it would not be surprising to watch Ossoff try to distance himself from Bottoms on the campaign trail.
