Team Cooper Blocks Conservative Outlet From Public Press Conference
Today, at former Governor Cooper’s campaign team worked hard to block the footage of the Blue Ridge Times at Cooper’s press conference outside of an early voting site. Early voting sites are public locations that every member of the public has a right to access, especially voters in that county.
Almost every member of the legacy media was in attendance, but Team Cooper chose to target The Blue Ridge Times. The full video shows no unprofessional conduct and no attempt to ask Cooper a question.
Notably in the background of the shot, The Blue Ridge Times captured several of the protestors highlighting Cooper’s appeasement settlement. The protestors dressed up as prisoners with signs thanking Cooper for getting them out early and announcing their support of him. That is not something legacy outlets will prominently feature.
In response to questions about the appeasement settlement with Cooper’s liberal allies, which released 3,500 prisoners early. Cooper referred to his career as attorney general, claiming that he was fighting crime. In response to a follow-up question, Cooper claimed his administration was following a judge’s order and the lead of the Trump administration. At the time, NC Health News reported that the conditions were “likely unconstitutional” but “[the judge] did not issue an order with his ruling, meaning that the exact consequences of his decisions are not yet known.”
Notably, Cooper refused to answer questions about why DeCarlos Brown Jr. was on his list for early release.
In response to a question about the SAVE act, Cooper said North Carolina had a history of “safe and secure” elections and that “we did not want to re-erect more barriers to voting.” This is yet another chapter in Cooper’s long history of opposing voter ID and election integrity.
Here are the images of the protestors that Team Cooper was so keen to hide from the public:
Tim’s Take: I’ve been observing Cooper’s political campaigns for almost a decade now, and this type of behavior is nothing new. During the onset of the pandemic, Cooper switched to virtual press conferences and simply shut out conservative reporters, especially from the North State Journal and Carolina Journal. Cooper is continuing his cover-up strategy during his campaign for the United States Senate. During the pandemic, he appeased liberal groups with a radical settlement that allowed thousands of prisoners to be freed. What else is he hiding? If Cooper wanted to be transparent with North Carolinians, he would take questions from everyone.
Editor’s Note: Sorry for the moving video quality as moving was required to avoid the blocking of the Cooper campaign. Here is the full video of the press conference:
