Undercover Video Exposes UNC Asheville Administrator Ignoring DEI Ban

Today, Accuracy in Media released an undercover video reveals UNC Asheville Dean of Students, bragging about ignoring the DEI ban. Last May, the UNC Board of Governors voted to eliminate DEI offices and spending throughout the UNC system.

However, Megan Pugh, Dean of Students, states that they are still doing equity work on campus and describes how they reorganized their system to avoid the ban. And then goes on to proclaim that she “loves breaking rules.” After Accuracy in Media revealed the results of their investigation to the school, UNC Asheville terminated this employee.

“It's abundantly clear that the Marxist principles associated with DEI are fully embedded into this university,” said AIM President Adam Guillete. “Removing one employee is merely the first step towards reform. Resolving the institutionalized radicalism at UNC-Asheville will require new leadership at the university level and bold reform from the Board of Governors."

Last week, an undercover video released by AIM rocked UNC Charlotte, who waited a month to take action after the issue gain publicity. In my interview with Adam Guillete, he said that his organization will continue to investigate schools across the UNC System and that his organization plans to release more video highlight the defiance of the DEI ban.

These stories will certainly impact the debate happening at the General Assembly about legislation that seeks to ban DEI across North Carolina state government, including the universities.
