Vice President Vance Visits North Carolina

Yesterday, Vice President J.D. Vance visited Concord, North Carolina to highlight the danger of liberal soft-on-crime policies push by Democrats like former Governor Roy Cooper and Associate N.C. Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls. In addition to Vice President Vance, N.C. House Speaker Destin Hall, Congressman Addison McDowell, Congressman Mark Harris, Senator Ted Budd, Senate Leader Phil Berger, and Senate Candidate Michael Whatley spoke at the event.

Here are the key quotes from Vice President Vance:

  • “Now I am joined by one of my favorite Senate colleagues, that is the great Senator Ted Budd of North Carolina. I assume we have some other Republicans in here. Are we going to send Ted Budd a great fellow Senator in Michael Whatley from the state of North Carolina?” (Crowd cheers)

  • “Whaltey I got to know, he was the RNC Chair and a great friend of mine and the whole administration during the race. But Michael loves the state of North Carolina. He’s going to fight for law enforcement. He’s going to fight for law and order. He’s going to fight for North Carolinians and North Carolina like nobody else. Michael Whatley, God bless you, man. Thank you so much for being here.”

  • “We have accepted for too long this idea that we should give over our streets to criminals, vagrants, and people who are screaming at us. Instead of taking back our streets with our incredible law enforcement.”

  • “And that's our basic attitude in the Trump administration is look, we should not allow people to take over. We should not allow these violent criminals to take over city streets. And if the local government wants our help, if the local authorities want our help, then we are going to help them because we stand for American safety everywhere, whether it's a big city or a small one.”

  • “Here's thing number one, very simple. If we if our great police officers find a violent criminal and lock them up, we ought to keep them locked up instead of letting them back on our streets with a slap on the wrist.”

  • And we got to be honest about that. I saw Governor, former Governor Cooper say, and this is Michael Watley's opponent. Former Governor Cooper said just a couple of days after the attack that we have got to do more when it comes to law enforcement to keep people like this off the streets. And my response was, Governor, he was arrested 14 times. Law enforcement did their job. It's time for you to do your job.

  • “And it's so amazing to me political Democrats, I don't think it's all Democrats. I actually think most Democrats want what most Republicans want, which is safety and their communities. But they always manage to turn issue of crime into a discussion about race.”

  • So, I also got to talk a little bit about another law and order problem. I said Charlie Kirk's assassination was the most political and disgusting violence that we've had in this country in the last couple of weeks. And that was true maybe until this morning because I don't know if you all have followed the news and we're still learning a little bit about it. But what we know is that in Dallas, Texas, an ICE facility, an immigrations and customs enforcement facility, was opened fire upon by a violent left-wing extremist, a person who wrote anti-ICE messaging on their bullets. And there's some evidence that we have that's not yet public, but we know this person was politically motivated. They were politically motivated to go after law enforcement. They were politically motivated to go after people who are enforcing our border. I think that is the most disgusting thing. The very people who keep us safe and by Democrats, it is time to stop the rhetorical assault on law enforcement. Because here's what happens.

  • “What's going to happen is political violence and political violence has gotten out of control in this country. We got to stop it. We got to condemn it. And that starts unfortunately at the very top of the Democratic party. If you want to stop political violence, stop attacking our law enforcement as the Gestapo. If you want to stop political violence, stop telling your supporters that everybody who disagrees with you is a Nazi. If you want to stop political violence, look in the mirror. That's the  way that we stop political violence in this country and we've got to do it.”

  • “Well, I would like everybody, whether a Democrat, a Republican, or an independent, especially those in political leadership, can we all just agree that our police officers are heroes, that they are public servants, and that the first and most important step of keeping all of us safe is to keep our police officers safe because they are the thin blue line between civilization and chaos. Thank you all.”

  • “But unfortunately, we've got a crew of violent radicals in the United States of America who think we ought to make it harder for police to keep us safe that easier for police to keep us safe. So, here's one thing I'd like to do. I'd like every single Democrat starting today and every Republican, too, while we're at it to say that we are going to defeat these efforts to strip immunity from our police officers. We're going to make it easier for them to do their job, not harder for them to do their job. Let's fight for it every single day.”

Here are the key quotes from the different speakers:

  • Speaker Destin Hall said, “Isn’t it great to have a President that enforces the rule of law again? What an honor to be up here today to welcome Vice President Vance to North Carolina, yet again. He and President Trump have been here time after time, whether its hurricane relief or now dealing with these issues of crime in our cities.”

  • Senate Leader Phil Berger said, “North Carolinians are fed up with judges and politicians who put dangerous criminals on our streets. We can keep our citizens safe by standing up politicians who are content in allowing dangerous criminals to roam free.”

  • Berger continued, “In Washington D.C., President Trump demonstrated to the nation that standing strong with law enforcement and enforcing the law addresses our most serious crime problems. President Trump’s tough on crime approach is the gold standard.”

  • Congressman Addison McDowell said, “We have come a long way, just 322 days ago, the American people, all of you included, but an end to a government that included a radical agenda that served the elites, and we ushered in a golden era of common sense. In less than a year, Republicans have delivered time and time again, despite opposition from our friends in the fake news and the Democrats in Congress.”

  • Senate Candidate Chairman Michael Whatley said, “When you think about where we are in North Carolina right now, we are experiencing the most transformational Presidency of our lifetime. We are in the middle of term, where nine months in President Trump and Vice President Vance and their administration are keeping their promises to the people of America and the people of North Carolina. We are rebuilding our economy. They are setting up trade policies that will benefit North Carolina manufactures, North Carolina farmers, North Carolina small businesses. We are seeing wages go up. We are seeing jobs get created all across this state. America is respected around the world again.

  • Whatley continued, “President Trump and J.D. Vance are working very hard to make sure we can protect our kids in our communities all across North Carolina.

  • Whatley said, “The highest function of government is to keep its citizens safe. Right now we are coming off an administration that wanted to look the other way… They wanted to go with soft-on-crime policies in order to appease a small, radical, progressive block, and we are dealing with that here in North Carolina.”

  • Whatley continued, “What happened to Iryna Zarutska was an absolute travesty, and it did not need to happen. Roy Cooper, during the 2020 antifa riots, most people will remember him taking off his mask and marching with the antifa protestors. But they may not remember that he signed an executive order saying we need to ‘reimagine’ law enforcement in North Carolina. You know what I don’t think we need to reimagine law enforcement. What we need to do is enforce the law and back the blue in North Carolina.”

  • Congressman Mark Harris said, “Over the last few weeks something has become crystal clear, Western Civilization is under siege. Violent criminals roam free in Democrat run cities. Worst of all innocent people are silent even killed for their beliefs. The recent tragedies in North Carolina and Utah have shaken our country to its core.”

  • Senator Ted Budd said, “When I talk to law enforcement, and boy do we have a lot of great law enforcement right here, they love that we are stopping the cartels from streaming into our country right here to North Carolina. We know that not all of that crime starts on the other side of the border. Some of it is unfortunately home grown and allowed to fester in our cities.”
