Congressman Chuck Edwards Announces $170 Million Approved For Additional Helene Funding
This week, Congressman Chuck Edwards (R- NC11) announced the release of $170 million in FEMA Hazard Mitigation and Public Assistance funds support ongoing Helene recovery efforts.
“Securing these funds is critical to finally moving from recovery to rebuilding,” said Congressman Edwards. “These resources allow us to get to work restoring our roads, rebuilding our bridges, and repairing the infrastructure Western North Carolina depends on every single day to keep communities connected and moving forward.”
Here are some of the projects supported by the round of funding:
$160,309,371 to North Carolina Emergency Management for statewide disaster management costs and debris removal in Avery and Mitchell counties.
$352,823 to Asheville Christian Academy for repairs and replacement of water control facilities.
$114,581 to FernLeaf Community Charter School for building interior and exterior repairs and replacements.
$871,619 to the Town of Spruce Pine for repairs and replacement of pipes, embankments, and other damaged infrastructure.
$366,526 to Christmount Christian Assembly, Inc. for repairs and replacement of culverts, wingwalls, guardrails, road base, and road surfaces.
$4,259,667 to the North Carolina Department of Transportation for repairs to Jacks Creek Road (State Route 1336) in Yancey County.
$1,505,457 to the City of Asheville for repairs to the Swannanoa River Greenway.
$261,912 to AdventHealth for repairs and replacement of building interiors, exteriors, and damaged contents.
$1,890,278 to the North Carolina Department of Transportation for road repairs and replacements.
