As End Of Shutdown Looms, Democrat State House Cancels Budget Session And Spanberger Administration Has No Plans For Shutdown

Yesterday, Speaker Don Scott cancelled the budget session scheduled for Thursday because they lacked a deal with Senate Democrats. As the Blue Ridge Times reported yesterday, Scott called out his fellow Democrat counterpart in the Senate, accusing her of sparking a “Democrat civil war.”

Gov. Spanberger and Virginia House Democrats and State Senate Democrats have reached an impasse over taxation related to data centers.  Instead of trying to work this out behind closed doors, Sen. Louise Lucas launched a public publicity tour to generate grassroots pressure on her opposition in the House and the Governor’s Mansion.

If Virginia Democrats fail to reach a budget compromise by the end of June, the Commonwealth of Virginia will experience a state government shutdown.

Yesterday, Virginia Senator Ryan McDougle showed that the Spanberger administration has no plans for how to handle a shutdown. Further compounding the crisis in state government caused by Democrat infighting.
