Buncombe County Announces New Swannanoa EMS Facility

Buncombe County announced plans for a new Swannanoa EMS Facility, that will be located in front of Own Pool at 750 Old U.S. 70 Highway. This will be the first standalone EMS station ever in Buncombe County. This project hopes to address increasing call volume by providing better emergency services.  

The facility will be 12,215 square feet with three double-loaded bays holding six emergency vehicles. The facility will have a bay area with exhaust protection system, 12 bedrooms, a day room, kitchen, dining area, medical supply, and an equipment storage rooms. The EMS East facility will be staffed and operation 24/7. Construction is expected to be completed by December 2026, and the facility plans to be fully operation by early 2027.
