Democrat Buncombe County Leaders Oppose Federal Plans To Remove Illegal Aliens With Dangerous Criminal Records

Amid reports that Federal immigration authorities may increase operation tempos in Buncombe County, Buncombe County leaders issued a joint statement opposing the Trump administration’s efforts to remove illegal aliens with criminal records.

In the joint statement, Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer, Board of Commissioners Chair Amanda Edwards, and members of the Asheville City Council and Buncombe County Board of Commissioners said, “We stand with all residents who simply want to go about their lives and contribute to our community. We are committed to following the law and protecting the rights and dignity of everyone who calls Asheville and Buncombe County home. Know your rights. Organizations including Pisgah Legal Services stand ready to assist individuals seeking legal guidance on immigration matters.”

Over the weekend, federal authorities increased operations in Charlotte over the weekend. Here are some of individuals arrested in Charlotte over the weekend and are representative of the people local Democrat leaders want to stay in Buncombe County.

  • Manuel Vasquez-Gavarrete, a previously deported criminal illegal alien from Honduras and known 18th Street gang member.

  • Humberto Pozada-Rodriguez, a previously deported criminal illegal alien from Honduras and known MS-13 gang member convicted of trespassing, public disorderly conduct, giving false information to a police officer, and three counts of illegal entry and previously arrested for assault on a police officer while resisting arrest, larceny, and receiving stolen goods.

  • Leonel De Jesus Chinchea-Galvan, a previously removed criminal illegal alien from Honduras charged with aggravated assault, assault with a dangerous weapon, and driving while intoxicated.

  • Karelia Estefania Torres-Izaguirre, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras with an active warrant out of the Charlotte Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear and charged with felony larceny.

  • Luis Osorio-Hernandez, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, convicted of possession of stolen goods and illegal entry and charged with assault of a female, driving while intoxicated.

  • Hector Maldonado-Garay, a previously removed criminal illegal alien from Honduras convicted of three counts of simple assault, one count of aggravated assault, and shoplifting.

Tim’s Take: Instead of cooperating with federal authorities in removing dangerous individuals the community, Democrat leaders are spreading fear.
