EXCLUSIVE Poll: 78% of NC Voters Support Farm Bill Protecting Domestic Agriculture Inputs and Limiting Reliance on China
A new poll finds a wide majority of North Carolina general election voters support reducing reliance on China and passing the North Carolina Farm Bill, which would protect domestic agricultural producers.
A survey of 500 likely North Carolina general election voters, conducted by an anti-CCP group, the Protecting America Initiative, also finds 72% of voters say they are more likely to support their state legislator if they voted for the Farm Bill (Senate Bill 639) that would provide legal protections to domestic agricultural manufacturers to keep costs low and assist efforts to safeguard America’s food supply. In an election year, that's a statistic few legislators can afford to ignore.
“This polling suggests North Carolina voters will be watching how their representatives approach the farm bill, and will tailor their votes accordingly,” the Protecting America Initiative polling memo reads.
The Farm Bill’s provision to support domestic agricultural manufacturers supplements the approach President Trump has pursued in Washington and which North Carolina voters support. Two-thirds (66%) support President Trump's use of the Defense Production Act to boost domestic production of key agricultural inputs like elemental phosphorus and glyphosate-based herbicides.
More key data points include:
More than eight in ten North Carolina voters (82%) say they are concerned about the fact that American farmers buy over 70% of agricultural inputs like fertilizers and pesticides from China.
An overwhelming 84% of voters say addressing the state's reliance on China for agricultural inputs should be a priority for the General Assembly, and they see the Farm Bill as the vehicle.
Nearly eight in ten voters (78%) support the NC Farm Bill, and 76% agree the legislature should pass it to protect pesticide and fertilizer production and keep costs down.
The Protecting America Initiative is a conservative nonprofit organization focused on protecting the United States from Communist China's growing influence. The poll was conducted April 7-8, 2026, among 500 likely North Carolina general election voters, with a margin of error of +/-4.4%.
