Mission Hospital Celebrates National Volunteer Month With Donation To Charity And Service Project
Yesterday, in recognition of National Volunteer Month, Mission Hospital hosted two community events to highlight its commitment to serving communities across Western North Carolina, specifically through volunteer activities.
At the first event, Mission Hospital presented a $10,000 donation to Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM). This organization was recognized as its Top Volunteer Organization, a designation that reflects the significant number of volunteer hours Mission Health colleagues contributed to ABCCM over the past year. ABCCM is a longstanding nonprofit that addresses homelessness, poverty and food insecurity across Western North Carolina through a range of programs and services.
“At Mission Health, our colleagues are deeply committed to giving back, and it’s inspiring to see the impact they make through both their time and resources,” said Annie Carpenter, Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement at Mission Health. “National Volunteer Month is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that spirit of service.”
Additionally, hospital staff participated in a hands-on project, preparing close to 600 sandwiches to support local food insecurity partners, including 12 Baskets Café, Southside Community Garden and Love and Respect, Community for Recovery and Wellness in Hendersonville.
In 2025, Mission Health says that colleagues contributed over 10,500 volunteer hours, along with $518,000 in colleague charitable giving and company match, and $750,000 in direct contributions to charitable organizations.
