Former NASA Site For Sale In Transylvania County

The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI), a former NASA research and communication facility, has been listed for sale. The campus is 192 acres nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The facility helped capture the first images of Earth from space and was later used by the NSA during the Cold War for satellite communication, and is currently used by International Dark Sky park for public education.  

The listing emphasizes that the site has substantial access energy from Duke Energy form both nuclear and hydro sources and has on sight generators to provide emergency power. The facility already a partnership with UNC system and other educational nonprofits.
