Former Vice President Kamala Harris Proudly Endorses Roy Cooper For Senate
Yesterday, at a stop on her book tour in Durham, former Vice President Kamala Harris proudly endorsed former Governor Roy Cooper’s campaign for the United States Senate. Harris described Cooper as a“rising” star in the Democrat Party. Cooper has not responded to this endorsement, and the campaign did not return a request for comment.
"Kamala Harris endorsing Roy Cooper should be no surprise given they both support free healthcare for illegal aliens and radical transgender policies that would let men play in women's sports and into their restrooms and locker rooms," said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. "North Carolinians supported President Trump in three elections and will reject Cooper and Harris' radical agenda in 2026."
While Cooper may be trying to distance himself from Harris now as he runs for Senate, Cooper was deeply connected with the Biden-Harris administration.
Cooper was one of Harris' first calls after learning Joe Biden was dropping out of the 2024 presidential race. Cooper told Harris, "Before you say anything, I’m all in," according to Harris' new book.
Cooper called Kamala Harris a "friend," and he was "a top choice to serve" as her vice presidential running mate.
Roy Cooper endorsed Kamala Harris — the most liberal nominee in US history — for president.
Cooper called President Trump, who North Carolina voters supported in three elections, "an existential threat to our democracy and our nation."
After Joe Biden's disastrous debate, Cooper said Biden had "cemented his place among our nation's finest Presidents."
Cooper's decision to distance himself from Harris is likely due to her declining approval ratings. Recent polling shows that Harris’s favorability rating has dropped from -5 in October 2024 to -13 in September 2025. This is a reversal of the usual trend of a President or Vice President becoming more popular after they leave office.
“Radical Roy Cooper’s endorsement from Kamala Harris is yet another sign to focus on taxpayer-funded health care for illegals, taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for minors, and raising taxes on hard-working North Carolina families,” said NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer.
