Gov. Brian Kemp Says Georgia Will Not Redraw Congressional Districts

Last week, two-term Republican Governor Brian Kemp said that Georgia will not redraw its congressional districts, despite the recent Supreme Court ruling eliminating the obligation for states to engage in race-based redistricting practices.

Kemp said, ““The Supreme Court’s decision Louisiana v. Callais restores fairness to our redistricting process and allows states to pass electoral maps that reflect the will of the voters, not the will of federal judges. Voting is already underway for the 2026 elections.”

Kemp did acknowledge that Georgia would likely redistrict in the future, but now in 2026 because the election is underway.
