Haywood Community College Receives Clean Audit From Office Of The State Auditor
This week, the North Carolina Office of State Auditor released its report on the financial reports of Haywood Community College.
Here is what State Auditor Dave Boliek said about this report:
“Located in the Western North Carolina mountains, Haywood Community College unique opportunities to its student population. Haywood Community College’s Professional Crafts programs, for example, are the only ones in the nation to both hands-on craft curriculum and business training to assist students in starting a business. It is important that proper financial control is maintained at Haywood Community College’s daily operations.”
“Through financial audits of universities and colleges, the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor assesses whether the records prepared by schools are materially correct. Our audit of Haywood Community College’s financial records shows no material errors for the year ended June 30, 2025.”
Key metrics from the audit:
The total assets of the college increased by over $2 million compared to the previous year. The college has $7.3 million in assets. $27 million in liabilities. It’s overall net position is $53 million.
Haywood Community College collects $2.6 million in operating revenue. The operating expenses reach $23 million, with a $20 million operating loss. Support from the State of North Carolina, County Appropriations, Student Financial aid, and other sources, provided $20.8 million in operating aid.
