Jenny Costa Honeycut Secures Republican Nomination For South Carolina’s First Congressional District

Yesterday, South Carolina voters headed to the polls for the runoff election. In South Carolina’s First Congressional District, Republican Jenny Costa Honeycutt secured the Republican nomination, while Nancy Lacore secured the Democrat nod. These candidates are vying for the congressional seat vacated by Rep. Nancy Mace who decided to run for Governor, only to be defeated by Trump-endorsed candidates. Notably, Republican turnout for the runoff nearly doubled Democrat turnout.

On her victory in the Republican runoff, Honeycutt said, “WE DID IT! The people of Dorchester, Colleton, Berkeley, Beaufort, Charleston, and Jasper counties sent a clear message: conservative leadership still matters and our best days are ahead.

She continued, “I’m incredibly grateful to every volunteer, supporter, and voter who believed in this campaign. Because of your hard work, your prayers, and your determination - we won this runoff and showed what can happen when the Lowcountry comes together around common sense conservative values. This victory belongs to YOU. Thanks so much! Now it’s time to unite, build momentum, and keep fighting for the Lowcountry. Let’s get to work!”

About her primary victory, Lacore retweeted the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee, a national group that supports Democrats, who said she will “fight to protect South Carolina’s coast, lower insurance costs, and raise wages to make life better for South Carolinians.”

Honeycutt is a life long resident of the Lowcountry, who earned her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She worked several years as an attorney helping small businesses navigate both federal and state regulations, in her community on James Island. She also served as a local elected official before pursuing a Congressional seat.

She also received support from national conservative groups. Honeycutt was endorsed by the conservative champion Congressman Jim Jordan. Additionally, Winning For Women, a group committed to helping elect conservative women, supported Honeycutt with positive ads ahead of the runoff.

“Congratulations to Councilwoman Jenny Costa Honeycutt! As a lifelong resident of the Lowcountry and a successful small business owner, Jenny is the perfect Representative for the First District. In Congress, Jenny will deliver results for the Palmetto State by helping President Trump grow the economy, maintain a secure border, and protect South Carolinians' Constitutional rights.” – NRCC Spokesman Reilly Richardson.

Notably, the New York Times reports that national Democrat groups plan to prop up Lacore with out-of-state left wing dark money.
