NC Ag Group Launches Ads to Thank Senators Tillis and Budd for Protecting North Carolina Farmers

Our Ag Future, an initiative of the NC Chamber focused on protecting North Carolina farmers, released a series of ads thanking Senator Thom Tillis and Senator Ted Budd for supporting North Carolina farmers by committing to protect duty drawback.

Senators Budd and Tillis have championed duty drawback because they know it keeps North Carolina farmers competitive.

Without it, investments leave our state, hurting our farmers and their families.

It's simple: Without duty drawback, special interests win, North Carolina loses.

Thank Senators Budd and Tillis for protecting duty drawback to ensure a bright future for our North Carolina farmers. 

Background on the issue:

The reconciliation package that passed the House contained a small provision that would have repealed duty drawbacks. Industry experts warn that this provision would severely harm North Carolina farmers. Duty drawbacks have been a long-time feature of American trade policy, allowing manufacturers to avoid double taxation. Duty drawbacks are especially important for tobacco farmers who rely on some imported components to produce and manufacture tobacco.

Our Ag Future launched an advertising campaign and a grassroots coalition to highlight the importance of this issue to North Carolina. This included testimonials from North Carolinians about the direct impact of the policy changes.

With the support of Tillis and Budd, duty drawbacks will likely be protected in the Senate version of the Big Beautiful Bill.
