NRCC releases ad hitting Rep. Davis’s vote against tax cuts

The National Republican Congressional Committee released an advertisement criticizing Rep. Don Davis’s vote against the “One Big Beautiful Bill” act.

  • The ad criticized Davis for supporting the largest tax increase on working families in a generation, while he supports taxpayer-funded public benefits for illegal immigrants.

    • In other words, “Illegals get freebies, you get the bill.”

What They Are Saying:

  • “Don Davis voted for the largest tax increase in generations while giving taxpayer-funded freebies to illegal immigrants. The NRCC will make sure voters won’t forget how Don Davis betrayed working families across North Carolina,” said NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole.

  • Mayor Sandy Roberson, a Republican challenger to Davis, said, “Representative Davis turned his back on hardworking Americans by voting against President Trump’s tax bill. This was a chance to keep more money in your pocket, boost our economy, and secure the borders, but Mr. Davis chose to side with big-government, radical liberals over the people of NC-01.”

  • Rep. Don Davis said, “The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is fiscally irresponsible. It increases the federal deficit, neglects the delivery of additional essential disaster assistance for NC, and it shifts costs onto states. The bill could devastate eastern North Carolinians, including potential loss of lifesaving healthcare coverage and overlooks the needs of families, children and dependents of veterans.”

  • NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer said, “As expected, Rep. Davis voted to increase taxes on his constituents, voted against locking in President Trump’s border security efforts, and voted against helping ENC’s military readiness. He showed NC-01 his priority: Staying close to Washington Democrat leadership.”
