PPG Industries announces new project in Shelby, creating 110 jobs

Company plans to invest $380 million

PPG Industries announced plans to build a new aerospace coating and sealants manufacturing plant in Shelby, North Carolina. The company plans to begin construction in October and begin operations in 2027. PPG is a Fortune 500 company that operates in more than 70 countries. This project marks the return of PPG to Shelby County, which first began operations in the area in the 1950s.

  • The facility will be 198,000 square feet and sits on 62 acres of land.

  • The average wage for the facility is estimated to be $66,861, above the county’s median wage of $48,310.
