President Trump Announces New John Deere Plant In North Carolina
Yesterday at an event, President Trump announced that John Deere planned to expand its presence with new facilities in North Carolina and Indiana. John Deere followed up the announcement with additional information, about how Kernersville campus will move manufacturing from Japan to the United States and will be the only excavator designed, developed, and manufactured in the United States.
“Our investment in these new facilities underscores John Deere's dedication to strengthening the backbone of American industry and supporting local economies,” said John May, chairman and chief executive officer of John Deere. “We believe in building America, and these projects represent our intent to continue driving innovation and job creation in the United States.“
The new $470 million factory in Kernersville will manufacture excavators previously scheduled for manufacturing in Japan. The facility will employ over 150 people and provide equipment critical to building in America.
“We are excited to bring this new facility to our Kernersville campus and to be part of the region’s thriving manufacturing community,“ said Ryan Campbell, president Worldwide Construction and Forestry and Power Systems. “Our focus will be on delivering excellence, creating jobs, and advancing the legacy of John Deere in American manufacturing.”
The White House highlighted this announcement as an example of President Trump’s America First trade agenda, with companies announcing trillions in investment in the United States and onshoring jobs for American workers — positioning the U.S. as the dominant player for the jobs of the future.
