Republican Jimmy Rogers Unseats Incumbent Mark Pless In House Primary
Last night, unofficial election results showed that Jimmy Rogers will unseat incumbent N.C. House Representative Mark Pless by 54.7% to 45.3%. Rogers says the result shows that the voters of Haywood and Madison Counties are sending a clear message.
“I’m deeply grateful to the voters of Haywood and Madison counties for the trust they placed in me,” Rogers said. “This victory belongs to the people of our mountain communities. From the beginning, this was a true grassroots effort, neighbors supporting neighbors and voters who believe our district deserves steady, thoughtful, and conservative leadership in Raleigh. I am that conservative.”
Rogers also thanked his volunteers and supporters who helped power the campaign.
“I’m especially thankful first to God for this opportunity to serve Him by serving you, to my tireless wife Tera, without whose support none of this would have been possible, and to the volunteers, friends, and supporters who helped my campaign and encouraged others to make their voices heard through this election. Campaigns like this only happen when communities come together.”
“Now the real work begins. We hear a lot about disaster recovery appropriations on the campaign trail. I will follow through on my commitment to ensure the district receives those funds more promptly.”
Looking ahead to the general election, Rogers intends to continue meeting voters across the district.
“I’m honored by the support voters have shown in this primary, and I look forward to working hard in the months ahead to earn your votes again in the November general election. Haywood and Madison counties showed they want a representative who listens, works effectively with others, and stays focused on promptly delivering results for the people who live here.”
Rogers will face Democrat Danny Davis in the November General Election.
Rogers is a lifelong Haywood County resident. He was born and raised and Clyde attending the local public schools. After returning home from college, Rogers worked at the family business, Haywood Tractor Company, which became a key economic driver across Western North Carolina. Rogers took over leadership at the company from his father in 1980, helping grow the business by serving local farmers and enterprises across the region.
Rogers highlighted his volunteer work with the community, including his role as the president of the Haywood County Fairgrounds Board, helping bring in significant economic activity for the region. He previously served on the Haywood County School Board. Rogers says that his campaign is rooted in “Faith. Family. Service. A lifetime of leadership grounded in strong values, local roots, and a commitment to community.”
