Today, Michael Whatley announced that he has been endorsed by over 60 sheriffs, Democrat and Republican, from across North Carolina. This means that the majority of top law enforcement officers across North Carolina support Whatley over Democrat former Governor Roy Cooper. These endorsements, follow endorsements from the North Carolina Trooper’s Association, the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association, and the nonpartisan National Border Patrol Union.
Here is what some of the sheriffs had to say about Whatley:
“North Carolina families deserve safe communities and strong leadership. While Roy Cooper has been soft on crime and failed to stand firmly with law enforcement, Michael Whatley will back our sheriffs, support our deputies, and fight every day for the people of our state.”- Gates County Sheriff Ray Campbell.
“Michael Whatley understands the values of small-town North Carolina. He believes in faith, family, and protecting our communities. We need that kind of leadership in Washington, and he has my full support.”- Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats.
“North Carolina needs leaders who put public safety first. Michael Whatley will stand with law enforcement, hold criminals accountable, and fight to keep our families safe. I’m proud to endorse him.”- Henderson County Sheriff Lowell Griffin.
“Our deputies put their lives on the line every day. Michael Whatley understands their sacrifices and will make sure law enforcement has the support and resources needed to do the job. I’m proud to stand with him.”- Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell.
